a week before my birthday..

a few more days before my birthday.. we haven’t really decided yet what we’ll do on this day. and though this would be our first time to celebrate my birthday that we’re together, we’re not doing something fancy. we’d probably opt for a “simple” home-cooked meal, maybe with some wine and nice dessert

and i’m also trying to re-learn how to bake. yeah, “re-learn”. i’ve tried baking before when i was in high school. but i really never gotten used to it. probably because i’m not really a fan of sweet stuffs. but since my hubby likes cakes and desserts, i’m planning to revive my passion in cooking

for my first try? banana chocolate muffin with sliced almonds. and since this would be my first time to really bake in my oven, we opted for an instant muffin mix. the instructions were written in japanese, but hurray for me, i managed to follow them

oh, and we also bought a 6-pc muffin pan. unfortunately, the pan is a bit big for my oven. so, i used a rack and i placed the muffin pan on top it. it worked, but i needed to rotate the pan every now and then so it wouldn’t burn. i’m planning to do muffins again within the week, but this time, i’m going to make it from scratch. and i’d try to make the rack lower so it wouldn’t be too near the “light” of the oven. if this won’t work, i’d probably buy individual muffin cups.

and lastly, my dream is to make pandesal hopefully before july, i’d have the courage and time to make pandesal. wish me luck!
